Lionel is a VW T25 campervan but, inspired by the words and works of Carl Sagan, Lionel is the Spaceship of Our Imagination…but don’t worry about that. It’s just confusing. Lionel is a campervan cinema. A cinema in a campervan.
Lionel has landed at Manchester Science Festival, the Natural History Museum, The Barbican with the support of the Wellcome Trust, Danny Boyle’s Shuffle Film Festival, Chorlton Arts Festival, Diamond Light Source, Underneath The Stars Festival, British Science Festival and many more places besides.
If you’ve heard about the cinema in a campervan, it was probably Lionel. Lionel has been a cinema in a campervan for over 6 years and loves showing films to people wherever he finds them.
Lionel is also the spaceship of the Dessert Lionel Discs Podcast. where he takes scientists or sciencey people to the edge of the known universe and back. They can take five CDs with them and a film of their choice. Lionel comes equipped with Carl Sagan’s book Cosmos and the complete works of Sir David Attenborough. Before they blast off into space, Lionel’s passengers share one last earthbound dessert and are interviewed for the podcast.
